Kingston Minor Football League (KMFL) is proud to officially announce a new partnership with the Kingston Sharks, marking an important step forward in the continued growth of girls’ tackle football in Kingston and the surrounding communities.
The Kingston Sharks are a competitive women’s tackle football program, coming off an undefeated 2025 season and a 2024 Tier Two Championship campaign within the Ontario Women’s Football League. Their success, leadership, and presence at the rep level make them a strong partner as KMFL continues to build inclusive, developmentally sound football opportunities for young athletes.
This collaboration is rooted in shared values—inclusion, safety, mentorship, and long-term athlete development—with a focus on strengthening and clarifying the pathway for girls in tackle football.
Through this collaboration, KMFL and the Kingston Sharks are able to expand both reach and opportunity for girls to learn and play tackle football from a young age, supported by clearly defined pathways and the proper systems around them. This partnership strengthens access to developmentally appropriate programming, mentorship, and progression—giving young athletes the assurance that they are welcome, respected, and valued as tackle football players. By intentionally carving out space for girls within the football landscape, both organizations are working together to ensure that participation is not only possible, but supported at every stage of the journey.
A key component of this partnership is mentorship. Young athletes will have the opportunity to look up to Sharks players as “Big Sister Sharks”—leaders who pave the way by example, instilling confidence and demonstrating that women belong in tackle football at every level.
KMFL is proud to stand alongside the Kingston Sharks and fully supports their continued growth as an organization. Together, both organizations are committed to building a stronger, more inclusive football community—one where girls have equitable access to the sport and a clear, supportive pathway to pursue tackle football with confidence.
